Once again we have produced a fresh dry Rose in the southern French style. It is ideal for summer drinking and we are thrilled with the resultant salmon hued wine.

The 2011 vintage was excellent until the middle of January but then wet and humid weather caused problems to many grapes. Fortunately the Mataro was not affected by disease problems and ripened evenly to be picked at flavour ripeness in mid March.

The fruit was whole bunch pressed and wild fermented in neutral French oak. The wine was sulphured when dry and left on lees for four months before finishing and bottling. The bottles are sealed using a stelvin closure and the striking label was again designed by Trisha Garner.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

We spent our childhood on farms and have a genuine love for the land and the way of life.

In 1981 we began wheat and sheep farming at Corop in north central Victoria. We started with basic machinery, quality soil and plenty of enthusiasm. In 1982 we ventured into growing tomatoes. The fact that we did not have experience in this form of horticulture was given only passing concern.

In 2001, while still growing tomatoes and cereals, we were fortunate to purchase land on the Mount Camel Range. This land has been prized for cereal cropping and in later years much sought after for grape production.

We planted the first Shiraz vines in 2002 and the first vintage was produced in 2005. We are thrilled with the quality of this wine and the feedback we are receiving. We are lucky to have many helpful neighbours and have employed vineyard, wine production and marketing experts including the noted winemaker Sandro Mosele.
