The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from two vineyards in the McLaren Vale district. The majority of fruit is sourced from the Willunga region with the balance from Seaview where the influence of ironstone soils gives rise to intense aromas and flavours. The Willunga region is well known for its strength of fruit characters in Cabernet and great tannin backbone.

Expert Reviews

Deep garnet, bright; the bouquet reveals essency black fruit aromas with licorice and brambly complexity; the palate is full-bodied and fleshy, with ample chewy tannins and charry oak a feature on the finish. Rating 90 - Drink by 2018 - Ben Edwards, Wine Companion (FEb/2013)

Kangarilla has established a reputation for consistently good wines and this red is a great example. Well priced offering lotsof smooth red fruit flavours with some oak and spice influences. Rating 92 - Peter Chapman, Queenlsand Newspapers

Winery Tasting Notes

Classic Cabernet characters of blackberry and black currant conserve on the nose with lovely nuances of potpourri and peppermint leaf.

The palate is intense with intense black fruits, earth and sweet chalky tannins. Seamless integrated oak marries wonderfully with the palate which finishes with extraordinary length of flavour.

Brand Profile Image

Kangarilla Road winery is a partnership between Kevin and Helen O’Brien. While the wines show the generosity of the McLaren Vale region, they also have a unique Kangarilla Road style, the white wines fragrant and aromatic and the reds an elegant expression of their variety. The Kangarilla Road philosophy remains unchanged: “To produce wines that we enjoy drinking – wines that can be enjoyed with or without food and especially with friends.”
