“It has been a very good year for the Barossa Valley and the result is wines such as this. Citrus and apple aromas give way to an almost creamy palate loaded with stone fruit. The wine has plenty of balance and complexity, all wrapped up in one lovely package” Rating 92 - Cameron Best, Geelong Advertiser, November 22nd 2012

“Like many other old, established Barossa Winemaking families, the Kalleskes have long grown chenin blanc on their property, in among the grenache and shiraz. Their Florentine is a full-flavoured and complex expression of dry chenin, with bright green-apple and floral fruit characters backed up by some creamy oak from barrel fermentation”.Max Allen, Gourmet Traveller Wine, Oct/Nov 2012
Top Tipple “An excellent wine from an excellent vintage. This is what chenin blanc should be stylish and elegant result of the winemaker’s empathy with the variety plus well managed mature vines. The distinctive nose ranges from lemon curd to nashi pear, and the palate is soft and juicy, displaying peach and melon notes with a creamy texture balanced by crisp acid”.Rob Ingram – Country Style Magazine, December 2012
DEPTH: “Chenin blanc has more depth to it than its popular ‘cousin’ sauvignon blanc... This year’s vintage at Greenock was excellent and the certified biodynamically grown fruit quality comes shining through. Wild fermented and partially barrel matured the wine has kiwi fruit flavours and an appealing mouthfeel”.Mount Barker Courier, October 3rd 2012
Winery Tasting Notes
Florentine is white-straw in colour.
The nose is inviting with aromas of fresh apple, cut hay, honeysuckle, quince, and a hint of almond.
The palate is medium-bodied with intense fresh fruit supported by subtle barrel fermentation characters. The wine is well structured with crisp acid balanced by a lightly creamy texture and hint of minerality. A fresh finish and persistent length completes this complex and classy wine. Florentine can be enjoyed now but will cellar gracefully.
