Winemaking at Jones Road starts in the vineyard. Careful management of yields and hand picking ensure the grapes reach the winery in premium condition.Vineyard owner, Rob Frewer and son Matthew, vineyard manager have nurtured the vine since planting and always take a hands-on approach throughout the year especially at vintage when timing is critical for optimum baume, pH and acid levels.
- VIC - Mornington Peninsula
Bright, clear crimson; a very well brought up pinot, its bouquet fragrant to the point of perfume, the palate well structured, but without the X-factor of the bouquet; its foundation of red and dark cherry fruits suggests there is more to come, the length and balance reinforcing that notion. Rating 92 - Drink by 2025, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (MAR/2015).
Winery Tasting Notes
Plenty of fine pinot character and complexity with spicy forest berry, red cherry, cocoa powder and a handsome layer of fine-grained savoury French oak woven throughout
The palate is supple, lithe and even with layered tannins holding crunchy red cherry flavour in elegant, gently curved shape. Terrific balance and resolve – cherry stone finish.
