Overview

The 2014 vintage was superb in Margaret River with plenty of sunshine for close to perfect ripening, with mild autumn days for long hang time on the vine (perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon). This weather not only allowed for great flavour development but also produced wonderful fine tannins in the skins and seeds, resulting in structure and balanced red wines. The 2014 Juniper Crossing Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot is made as a bright, fruit-driven style with moderate oak influence and good structure.

Expert Reviews

94 Points James Halliday - Campbell Mattinson Published 7 Dec 2016

It asserts its class from the outset and at this price level, that's something of a rarity. It's mid-weight, feels authentic, is both dark and bright at once, and comes polished with an appropriate smear of smoky/chocolatey oak. Tannin management too is impeccable. It's a wine of a winery on song.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Vibrant ruby red

Aroma

Aromas of mulberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry and a hint of plum appearing first on the nose followed by background suggestions of vanilla, spice and chocolate from the French oak.

Palate

The palate is refined with a wonderful array of red and black berry flavours; fine, powdery tannins support the palate, with biscuity oak, and cassis flavours on the finish.

Cellar

This wine will be at its best drinking between 2016 and 2026.
