An outstanding summer provided near perfect growing conditions in Marlborough. As a result of the good flowering, we had evenly mature bunches with good berry numbers. However, we ended up with rather low yields (around 6 tonnes / hectare), due to the cold weather in 2012. This ideal growing season has delivered a concentrated and vibrant Sauvignon Blanc. We would love to have harvested more of it!

“Isabel has for years been one of the better Marlborough savvies, concentrated and ripe, with stone-fruit and tropical aromas, passionfruit and pineapple as well as peach and grapefruit. It’s very fragrant and alluring, a delicious wine which is clean and gently firm on the finish. Now to six years. 13.5 per cent alcohol”.
94/100 – Huon Hooke, Sydney Morning Herald, 2014
“Appealing Sauvignon Blanc with ripe yet tangy flavours including gooseberry, grapefruit, red capsicum and orange blossom. Quite a weighty and moderately concentrated wine with an attractive texture that deserves extra points.” 93/100 – Bob Campbell, MW, 2013
With over 30 years’ growing experience in Marlborough, the Isabel team knows its vineyards. That comes through in this intense, driving wine that offers a multitude of flavour shades and extraordinary length. Serve it with ceviche.” 4.5 stars – Cuisine Magazine, 2013
“It’s richly aromatic on the nose displaying peach, mango, lime zest and subtle capsicum aromas, leading to a succulent palate that’s filled with tasty flavours. The wine is flavoursome and beautifully balanced by juicy acidity. At its best: now to 2016.”91/100 – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 2014
The Tiller family has had ties to Marlborough since the early ’80s, first as grape growers before starting their own label. This has classic gooseberry aroma, branching into yellow pear and kaffir lime. A dry grapefruit cut of acidity enhances the vineyard’s mineral-laden soil’s effect on the wine, providing balance and charm.” 93/100 – Alan Hunter, Sommelier at e’cco Bistro in Brisbane, 2013
”Sniffing this wine was like smelling a bouquet of freshly cut rose petals and elderflowers. This Marlborough wine has good texture and a nice weight to it. Bright and lively with a concentrated, dry mineral finish, it is a very serious wine.” Wall Street Journal 2014
Winery Tasting Notes
Lush aromas of pineapple, Kaffir lime leaves, elderflower and lychee explode from the glass.
The palate is rich, offering fresh green mango, passionfruit & guava. The finish is persistent and coupled with the classic Isabel wet-stone minerality, makes this wine extremely refreshing. With its balanced acidity this daring wine is delicious in its youth and a delightful accompaniment to those long, hot summer days.
