The Howard Park Chardonnay is a modern style of Australian’ barrel-fermented Chardonnay: elegant, lean and sophisticated. This wine displays mineral, citric and pear fruit characters with some savoury and nutty notes from the interaction of oak and lees. The Howard Park Chardonnay will enormously reward those that are patient enough to cellar this wine. It will develop wonderful secondary characters after about a year and will drink well for five years.

"Sourced from the Great Southern, this continues the pursuit of fine and more delicate Chardonnays without losing anything in power and intensity. It is a super wine, and one of the finest I have tasted from Howard Park. A little wild yeast and oak fermentation has added complexity and texture. An impressive example of high-quality Chardonnay." "Medium yellow; bright colour. ‘Airfix glue’ aromas reflecting fermentation issues, and suggesting volatile acidity. Very complex wine, though, especially in the mouth, where the flavours are multi-faceted. Rich, honeyed, malty and nougat-like with nectarine and grapefruit flavours of real fascination and charm. Good intensity and length, but it’s light on its feet suggesting a moderate level of alcohol. Superb.” Rating 95 - HuonHooke, www.huonhooke.com
Winery Tasting Notes
Brilliant in appearance and pale straw in colour with lemon/lime hues.
The bouquet is an enticing mix of white field flowers, grapefruit, pear essence and brioche.
Enriched with layers of nutmeal, the palate’s fine, creamy texture is supported by toasted vanillin oak. The bright lemon acidity adds a degree of restraint and length to finish the wine.
Over the next 6-8 years.
