The Abercrombie is Howard Park Wines finest Cabernet Sauvignon. In most years the wine is a blend of grapes sourced from the Dennis vineyard in Mount Barker and the Leston vineyard in Margaret River. Our long term commitment to and passion for grape growing in the two major premiums grape growing regions of Western Australia is reflected in this wine.

- Western Australia
A regional blend of old, low- yielding vines matured in French barriques (60% new) for 20 months. Excellent colour; it has that restraint cabernet has in its youth, slowly opening its arms to relax and welcome you with age (5+ years) when the fragrance of the bouquet will increase in scope and intensity, cedary nuances infused through the black fruits and slowly softening tannins. Rating 96 - drink by 2041, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (FEB/2014).
Winery Tasting Notes
The dense and dark ruby colour implies youth, richness and intensity.
Presently the bouquet is restrained yet suggestive of abundantly ripe dark berry fruits fine, sweet French oak spice. The promise of the nose washes the palate with dense blackberry and blackcurrant fruits, hints of sweet mint and freshly rubbed herbs.
Powerful and opulent, the palate is deftly cradled in well integrated ripe fruit and fine oak tannins and a soft acidity. A wine with a subtlety of presence that will blossom with time and age with grace.
After 6 months of settling in the bottle the wine is released. The 2011 is an outstanding vintage of Abercrombie that will take time it's time to reach maturity yet will cellar well for more than a decade. This wine will drink at its best from 2015.
