“Hill of Content was born out of my desire to create interesting region specific wines at a price that allows for ‘liberal’ consumption. The name translates as ‘Hill of Happiness’, referring to a state of mind rather than geographic place. I hoped

it would also be my own little way of seeking revenge against those ‘anonymous’ glass pour wines that I am sure you to have tried and been disappointed by...you know wines that are red or white, contain alcohol, but you would hardly strike upa conversation about. You be the judge if I have succeeded.” - John Larchet,

Proprietor & Winemaker.

This is a lush and dense Cabernet Sauvignon that just oozes delicious aromas and flavours. Beautiful red and black fruits fill the palate, and hints of chocolate and coffee add to the feast of flavours. Premium regional fruit has made this wine intense and wonderfully appealing.

Expert Reviews

2009 Vintage: clarity and energy. Smooth and gently sweet, offering sappy dark fruit and candied rose flavors, supple tannins and a touch of black pepper. A blueberry note carries through the nicely persistent, spicy finish. "89 points. - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is scented of ripe cassis with hints of bay leaf, loam, chocolate and toast. Medium to full-bodied, the palate provides good concentration and balance with medium-high acidity and a medium level of grainy tannins, finishing long. Drink it now to 2016. Rating 87 - Drink to 2016 Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate (DEC/2011)

Winery Tasting Notes

Brick red with a dark magenta hue.

Cassis like fruits with a touch of sweet soy, dark chocolate and a light lift from aged fruit. Slightly malty oak with rich bottle aged complexity.

Big rich tannins, juicy fruit characters with dark, forest floor complexity and good length. Bottle aged characters of new leather and oak tannin provide length and complexity.

Food Matching

Enjoy it with cheese or your favourite cut of meat.

Cellaring Potential

Drink now as the wine has been aging for 5 years in bottle already. A wine from a very dry (rainfall wise) vintage that shows many quality characters.
