The 2010 vintage continues a remarkable decade of harvests in McLaren Vale, joining 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. An almost perfect growing season paved the way for a vintage where all the strongest parcels of fruit were picked in ideal conditions. The resultant wine has great concentration and flavour yet continues with the Gemtree trademark of fine acid and tannin lines.

Deep, dense purple-crimson; this is a notably intense and complex shiraz from the start of the bouquet through to the finish and aftertaste; spice, licorice, blackberry, blood plum and dark chocolate powder all have their say while leaving space and air, giving the wine finesse and elegance.Rating 95 - Drink by 2025 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (DEC/2011)
Gemtree has been a leader of organics/biodynamics in the McLaren Vale region – and is also a dab hand at producing good quality/value booze, particularly with reds. If you’re in the market for some not-too-expensive McLaren Vale shiraz, this version of Uncut Shiraz 100% hits the spot.
It’s rich, well balanced, spicy and yet flooded with black, plummy fruit. Strong, lively flavours. Jam sweet, but pure and well composed. Delicious to drink. Positive input from spicy/smoky oak. Rating 92 - Drink 2013 - 2018 + Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front (08/OCT/2012)
Winery Tasting Notes
Deep purple/crimson with purple and black hues.
Satsuma plums, licorice, white pepper, black jubes, mocha, red cherry, hints of cinnamon and savoury oak.
A complex web of flavours that traverse the palate. The front is dominated by the darker spectrum of fruits - blackberry, plums and blueberries. The 2010 has a definitive concentration of typical uncut shirazes yet something we haven’t seen since the 2006 vintage, restraint. Half way through the palate journey the wine checks itself and much like a funnel the fruits are channeled in by wonderful lines of acid and tannin.
