Scotchmans Hill has been involved with vineyards and winemaking on the Mornington Peninsula for 25 years. This association led them to pursuing the winemaking of their own distinct wines from the region.

The grapes used to make these wines are sourced from vineyards that lie on the fertile red soils of Red Hill, 30km to the east of Scotchmans Hill. The winemaking team ferry the grapes across the bay to the winery each vintage, hence the name Ferryman.

These wines display great elegance and typicity.

Expert Reviews

Relatively low yield, hand picking, whole bunch pressing and cool fermentation have produced a wine with above average intensity, although not especially complex; works well.

Rating 90 - James Halliday, Australia Wine Companion - Feb 2014

Winery Tasting Notes

Lifted perfume, nashi pears and bath salts aromas, citrus notes with a waxy edge.

The palate is full and ripe with pears, citrus fruits and spice. This is balanced by a firm acid backbone to be enjoyed over the next 2 ½ years.
