Expert Reviews

“Full yellow colour with golden tints. Very rich, nutty, complex bouquet with lots of aldehydes and toasty, bready and yeasty smells. Loads of complexity, lots of cracked yeast character. A very multifaceted wine and nicely dry on the finish, which is soft and rich and carries superbly. Very good wine.”

Rating 95 - Huon Hooke,

“Avize, Cramant, Oger, and Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger are the most famous villages on the Côte des Blancs, especially its grand cru vineyards. It is imported and distributed by Howard Park, hence the modest price. Green-gold, it has an array of baker’s shop spices woven through the white flesh stone fruit, the finish clean, fresh and lingering.”flavours, and attractive nutty/spicy yeast influences; good length and balance.”

Rating 93 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Magazine

Winery Tasting Notes

Based in the village of Avize in the Côte de Blancs.

With full yet fine flavours, the 2006 vintage shows a round freshness which is characteristic of Grand Cru Chardonnay champagnes. With fine and elegant aromas, this vintage reveals its richness and complexity on the palate.

Rich, balanced and ripe. Well opened and slightly menthol taste.

Firstly very minerally which turns into more floral flavours. A mature and complex roundness reveals itself after a few minutes which is a sign of the aging. Then, above a persistent freshness, one starts to feel the evolution of the Chardonnay through very delicate, mineral and floral notes.

Food Matching

Always excellent as an aperitif, this vintage will perfectly accompany fish.

Winery Profile

Interested since childhood, after the Second World War, Franck and his wife Jeannine marketed the first bottles from a vineyard planted on the Avize and Oger soil for twenty years.

At the vine as well as in the cellar, Gilles was always with his parents and together with his wife, Ingrid, decided to set up in the family business. Both of them planned to modernise the tools of their trade and develop the market of the individual client. With the same passion and in the same spirit, naturally, Olivier, of the third generation, follows in the family venture, with his parents and grandparents still at hi side.

What we want is to have a base product of high quality, which is why today the business covers 20 hectare only in the Cramant, Avize and Oger areas, three districts classified Grand Cru. An environmentally respectful form of viticulture, a meticulous wine-making process, and a long ageing process, are all factors which allow us to express and respect what is typical of our area. Our efforts do not end with the finished product. The presentation of our vintage needs to be in perfect harmony with those moments you wish to celebrate.
