"Deep dark and opulent Margaret River Shiraz. It's brimming with smoky plum and liquorice aromas with a decent whack of toasty oak. Lots of spices and dried herbs that carry through to the finish. Dry and velvety smooth showing excellent oak and fruit integration".

“Flametree hit the ground running with its first vintage in 2007 and then employed former Voyager Estate winemaker Cliff Royle, who's taken the baton and sprinted. The wines are all excellent, this one further eroding the old notion that shiraz is no good in Margaret River. It has a deep, dense red-purple colour and a rich, ripe-smelling bouquet of spices and meaty charcuterie, plum and cherry. The texture is soft and fleshy, smooth and gentle but the wine is also ample in tannins. The farewell is balanced and leaves a delicious aftertaste. A very classy wine indeed. Best now to 12 years. Food: All roast meats especially beef and venison; steak sandwich; waygu slider; Portuguese beef kebabs.”Rating 93 - Huon Hooke. Wine of the Week - Sydney Morning Herald 31 July 2012
"Deep crimson-purple; ripe plum fruit, with touches of spice and oak, provides an expressive bouquet, the medium-bodied palate building on these aromas with soft, milky tannins. Easy drinking style." Rating 91 - James HAlliday, Wine Companion Magazine, Oct/Nov 2012
Winery Tasting Notes
The colour and perfume are testament to a fantastic Shiraz vintage.
Lifted blueberry, plums, liquorice and spice combine to create a soft fruit driven Shiraz style.
Soft extraction techniques using open fermenters has resulted in a wine with ripe fruit flavours and fine tannin structure. The palate has plenty of sweet dark fruits and spicy oak flavours. Aged in older barrels to keep the oak influence in the back ground and the fruit flavours as the star of the show. A great first up Margaret River Shiraz for Flametree. Enjoy over the next few years.
