Margaret River is Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Sauvignon is Margaret River. The Flowstone Queen of the Earth Cabernet Sauvignon is from one old growth vineyard in Willyabrup.
Just as the flowstones are formed with time and patience, to allow their true beauty and origins to be revealed, so are the wines from Flowstone 'Queen of the Earth'..
- WA - Margaret River
- Western Australia
Hand-picked from a single dry-grown vineyard in Wilyabrup; open-fermented in 1-tonne pots, 17 days post-fermentation maceration, matured for 3 years in new French barriques, plus 15 months bottle age, 9 dozen made. Briefly tries to hide its beauty, but has to let the rivulets of cassis caress the tongue and cheeks of the mouth, supported by persistent, but extraordinarily fine, silky tannins. Winery Tasting Notes
Deep purple/red, with purple hues
Red and blue berries, spice, mocha, dark chocolate, cedar - this is a brooding and contemplative mix of everything Cabernet Sauvignon. It is beguiling, engaging, and downright enjoyable.
Dense berry fruits supported by soft, yet structural oak. There is a beautiful sweetness of fruit, and abundant, beautifully fine, tannins. This is a wine of great tannic structure, but it does not take over the wine in any manner. The flavours build on the back palate, and last... a very long time. This is a compact, complex, classic Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon.
Crusty veal casserole, bangers and mash, porcini and herb crusted lamb
