Expert Reviews

It's a colourful wine imbued with dark fruits, spice, tarry character and a dusty, chalky tannin profile, but all mashed up and coated in a slippery skin of easy-to-drink goodness. This is bright, fun and furious. Good vibes. Rating 91 - Mike Bennie, WBM, March 2013

Thoroughly modern styling here. Immensely drinkable and juicy with a fragrant lifted floral note to begin, then an almost smoky char to its crunchy, fresh dark-red-fruit spectrum. This is the Portuguese original touriga nacional in great shape - fresh and viatal and spot-on with rustic foods. Rating 4.5/5 Tony Love,, 'Tony Love's Top 100 Wines', July 20, 2013

Matt ‘Gantos’ Gant and John ‘JR’ Retsas are two mates with a lifelong commitment to making kick-arse booze. These are wines with flavour, texture and a splash of funk, made with the best fruit from unique patches of the Barossa, Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.

First Drop is about life, flavour, and fun – wines to drink! You might have noticed that we have a pretty artistic approach to our packaging too. Whether it’s the Hogarth-inspired Mother’s Ruin illustration or the funked-up street art on the 2% Shiraz, this is booze that looks as good as it tastes.
