Winery Profile

Moulin-à-Vent is the grandest of the ten Beaujolais Crus. With age their wines resemble Pinot Noir from the Cote d’Or – strange but very true. While much of the vineyard has a soil of crumbly pink sand over granite, the special ingredient here is manganese (there is an old mine under Romanèche-Thorins).The best wines from Moulin-à-Vent have exceptional purity of fruit, structure and length. When young the wine is exciting and fresh; with a little bottle age, the secondary characteristics start to emerge and can surprise even the experienced palate.
