Handpicked fruit and minimal intervention in the winery have produced a classic Pinot Noir. Aged in a selection of old French oak.

Expert Reviews

Full red-purple; fragrant plum and black cherry aromas translate directly onto the fore-palate, then joined along the way by some savoury/foresty/stemmy notes to add complexity and texture. A little lean?Rating 93 - Drink by 2018 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (JAN/2013)

The colour of the wine has a brilliant dark ruby glow to it.

Unmistakeably Pinot, the cherry-strawberry nose offers seductive hints of rose petals.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Kate Hill came to Tasmania in 2006 to fulfil her ambition of making some of Australia’s best, world class, cool climate wines.

Not only is Tasmania Australia’s most picturesque, best kept secret, but its gentle climate is ideal for the propagation of some of Australia’s most succulent fruit and bountiful vines – and so ideal for the production of fine wines. Kate is keen to make the most of Tasmania’s superb cool climate fruit by producing high quality wines that everyone will remember and enjoy.

Kate is no stranger to the world of wine. For more than ten years she has been making wine in some of the world’s prime wine-making regions including South Australia, France, California and Chile. She was an executive winemaker with Orlando Wyndham for four years at their Riverina winery and has a number of gold medal wines to her credit. Kate’s experience in Tasmania includes working with Stefano Lubiana Wines and work with contract winemaker Winemaking Tasmania. She has established herself as a wine consultant and educator at Hobart’s Drysdale Institute and has now embarked as an independent winemaker. Her first two solo vintages won wide acclaim, including the Trophy for Best Wine of Show for her 2008 Pinot Noir at the 2010 Tasmanian Wine Show.

Having made her new home in Tasmania, Kate is now expanding her business. She began by producing a Riesling and Pinot Noir but her range will expand to include a sparkling Pinot-Chardonnay and a Cabernet Merlot.
