Sancerre A.C.

A Sancerre of this quality comes from old Sauvignon vines planted on the famous flinted hills of Saint-Satur that cover the eastern side of the Sancerre appellation.

Vinified in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks, this wine, maturing on its fine lees, is regularly suspended by ‘bâtonnage’ for more than six months.

Winery Tasting Notes

This special Sancerre has appeal from its overflowing aromas of flints and spices.

Powerful in fruit and in body, the wine evokes the Sauvignon flower and the sap of the vines. With a superb balance, a delicate and harmonious expression, all its elegance lives long on both the palate and the mind.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Gérard Fiou is all about soil and hedonism. Their wines are pure, strikingly stylish, linear and you somehow feel they really are very good for you.

The estate produces wine varieties including AC Sancerre, AC Pouilly Fumé and Vin de Pays du Valley de Loire.

Starting with only five hectares in the beautiful village of Saint-Satur in the central vineyards of the Loire Valley, Gérard Fiou now has 34 hectares under vines.

The Domaine is the only estate with equal parts of limestone and flint that contributes to the fresh, pure texture of Gérard Fiou’s special Sancerre. It is the goal of the small team at Gérard Fiou to create wine that expresses the special qualities of the soil it is from.

About the Method

The conversion to full organic viticultural practices in the vineyard is ongoing and has resulted in the depths of flavour found in the fruit. The very groovy gravity feed winery supports a minimal interventionist approach to wine making and with the deliberately gentle handling of the the fruit, the wines develop a silky smooth texture.

The simple goal at this family-run estate is to produce the purity and expression of the wines with no flavours other than those of the grape and soil in which they are grown.
