Along curving back roads you find Château des Rontets located on top of a hill overlooking the village of Fuissé.
Pouilly-Fuissé is the important white wine appellation in the Mâconnais district of Southern Burgundy. Being on top of a hill means that the only water to pass through the vineyards comes from above; purity is the hallmark of Château des Rontets. Fabio and Claire exchanged their city lives as architects and returned to the family home to become farmers; Château des Rontets has been in Claire’s family since 1850.

Winery Tasting Notes
Cuvée of Pouilly-Fuissé Pierrefolle comes from only the outer parcel Clos: Located just 500 meters to the south, east and full exposure position sheltered from the north wind make it a warmer place . This climate has previous oldest geological origins, Jurassic: it sits on a granite rock and devoid of clay and limestone soil. For this reason, at its plantation in the early 1970s was selected rootstock Riparia, which has a low force and guarantees limited production of high quality grapes.
All these features give rise to wines that have an acidic frame has less than those from the Clos. While being wider and generous, the wine Pierrefolle is always supported by a specific mineral expression, accompanied by aromatic citrus notes.
In addition, because of the high percentage of plants chardonnay muscat, it develops almost exotic accents in the ripening period. Fermentation takes place in recent drums 400 and 228 liters, in old wood.
After a year on the lees the wine is racked and assembled tank for a period of 6 to raising additional 10 months which allow its natural clarification. It is then bottled without fining or filtration, and while being accessible from the second year it has an aging potential that easily exceeds 10 years.
