Appellation: Crozes-Hermitage Rouge A.C., Rhone

100% Syrah – old vines (30 years old). The Red Crozes-Hermitage is made of a combination of two Terroir: clayey-limestone hillsides and shallow sandy-clay alluvial terraces.

Closely managed, each block has been harvested at the best ripening stage. Having fully destemmed the grapes, the blocks are fermented separately. The maceration phase lasts up to 20 days. The wines are bottled after a 16 months aging period.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Cave de Clairmont is a small family run cooperative, which usually produces some of the best value in the appellation: perfumed, lunging and energetic wines.- The New France, Andrew Jefford

Carol Devaux, the viticulturist and winemaker, carries heavy responsibility on her young shoulders – her decisions dictate the livelihood of seven families.

However, she is calm, accurate and extremely professional and this shows in her wines. While the wines taste stately (perhaps that’s the Northern Rhône Syrah), they also remain pretty, balanced and stylish.

Cave de Clairmont seeks to offer the consumer both value and quality – an ambition they achieve.

Founded in 1972, the Cave de Clairmont was the dream of three families who were Crozes-Hermitage specialists. Generation after generation the families have grown bigger but the rigor and passion passed down remains today as strong and proud as ever.
