Very hot and dry. Extended period of very hot weather saw the reds sugar ripen quickly producing intense flavours.

This is another impressive offering from Margaret River. It's fair to say that, in their short history, Edwards wines have been reliably good across the entire range. This is a big, powerful wine but quite light on its feet - an easy wine to enjoy. It's fleshy and supple, with blackberry flavours picking up some liquorice and dark plum complexity. There's a late rush of peppery spice to finish. Good cellaring potential, but for me, just grab a steak and enjoy. I really liked it. Rick Allen - Manly Daily April 2014
Winery Tasting Notes
Lifted blood plums, vanilla and dark cherry characters overlay ripe mulberry and blueberry notes. Aromas of musk, wine gums and spicy oak compliment the ripe fruit characters. Hints of vanilla from the American oak round out the nose.
Rich, ripe and fill bodied, this hearty wine is overflowing with powerful flavours. Full and round, the classic savoury notes of cigar box and bay leaf flow through from the nose and are complimented beautifully by the rich berry characters of mulberry and blood plums. More savour notes of white pepper, licorice and bay leaf from the nose dominate the back palate. Chalky but well integrated tannin and the cedary oak characters provide length and a seamless finish.
