Vivid deep crimson in colour, the bouquet offers violets, dark cherry, plum, roasted meats, tar and spice; the palate is ample and sweet-fruited on entry, with gravelly tannins bringing up the rear; long savoury and refreshing. Winery Tasting Notes
Lifted and vibrant, 2010 was an exceptional year for this under-rated Margaret River varietal. Musk, strawberries with cream, and dark berry characters overlay savoury notes of white pepper, forest floor, bay leaf and green olive. Other flavours of wine gums and a hint of vanilla from the american oak provide an appetizing complexity to the nose.
This is a wine for lovers to share over a memorable intimate meal. Rich, ripe and full-bodied, this hearty wine is bursting with flavour and is all about comfort - especially when shared with your favourite friend. Its up front sweet fruit with hints of blood plums and dark cherries is a fine compliment for a steak-house style meal or nourishing winter stew. Savoury notes of white pepper, licorice and bay leaf aromas flow from the nose to the back palate which is rounded out by the chalky yet well integrated tannin, and cedary oak characters. The finish is deliciously long and smooth inviting another mouthful.
