Overview

Fresh, clean and tight; this wine is refined and elegant with integrated complexity gained through the carefully managed barrel fermentation. The generous flavours and texture from the wild ferment marry beautifully with the citrus and stone fruits which flow through from the nose. The zesty acidity is balanced perfectly with the fruit purity, quality fine grained French oak and lees characters, providing a lingering finish.

Winery Tasting Notes

Aroma

2012 was a classic growing year for Margaret River Chardonnay and this one is up there with the best we have made. The fresh and lifted nose initially exhibits clean citrus characters with hints of white peach and nectarine. We pushed the boundaries this year with solids ferments and experimentation with wild years and have a obtained a perfect balance of freshness and complexity, with subtle nuances that have resulted in exceptional texture and flavour. The nose is extremely inviting; with savoury oak and honeydew melon aromas, rounded out with green pistachio nut, flint and lemon meringue.

Established in 1993, Edwards Wines is a family owned and operated winery run by brothers Mike and Christo Edwards, who are winemaker and viticulturalist respectively. Their 25 hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the Margaret River Wine region and consists of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz , Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Elegant wines of intense colour and flavour are consistently produced through an attentive and hands-on approach in the vineyard, coupled with experience and attention to detail in the winery. Edwards is also experimenting with organic practices in the vineyard.

On March 2nd 1990, amateur pilot Brian Edwards took off from Binbrook airfield in England , flying his 1943 Tiger Moth ‘Matilda’, bound for Australia . His mission, to fly the route of the great Australian aviation pioneers and to raise money for Legacy.

The successful completion of the 6 week epic flight ended with Brian landing at Langley Park in Perth on May 13th 1990. The two wines from Tigers Tale are in recognition of Brian Edwards, who made his dream a reality.
