Overview

The nose is very pungent, showing lots of exotic aromas, roses and spices, clearly also influenced by the limestone vineyards from Wintzenheim. The palate shows surprising structure and a dry finish. The grapes were very healthy, so the fermentation was steady and almost complete, which suits this style of Gewurztraminer. It is already quite open but will benefit from a little time in the bottle.

Expert Reviews

"Dry and focused, this mineral-driven version offers lots of ground white pepper and ginger notes, with an open-knit mesh of crunchy apricot, lychee, grapefruit zest and melon rind." 91 Points Wine Spectator

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

The Domaine Zind-Humbrecht was created in 1959 by the union of the family owned properties of Zénon Humbrecht, winegrower at Gueberschwihr and of Emile Zind, winegrower in Wintzenheim. Before this date each of the families were producing and selling their wines under their own name. Winegrower from father to son since the Thirty Years war in Europe (1620) the Humbrecht family has long winemaking traditions, with the current winemaker being Olivier Humbrecht MW.
