Our Estate Gewürztraminer fruit was all hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to retain the distinct flavours that Gewürztraminer is famous for. The juice was fermented in tank and in large oak vessels, exclusively by wild yeast to increase the complexity and spiciness of the wine.

Expert Reviews

One of the more celebrated gewurztraminers in Australia, achieving fame right from the outset under the hand of then winemaker Ros Ritchie. Wild yeast fermentation has not impacted one way or the other on the varietal expression, which comes through with the expected rose petal/rosewater and lychee aromas and flavours. Delicacy remains the watchword. Rating 94 - Drink by 2020, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (MAR/2014)

Winery Tasting Notes

The 2013 Deadman’s Hill shows the classic Turkish delight and musk characters that Delatite’s Gewürztraminer is renowned for.

The perfumed nose hints at a wine that may be sweet but the palate shows that this is a classic dry Gewürztraminer with a crisp and clean finish.

Food Matching

The ‘Deadman’s Hill’ is, like always, a perfect accompaniment to aromatic Thai food with it’s powerful aromatics being able to complement strong spicy dishes.

Alluring in its youth but it will amply reward cellaring for more than ten years; developing honey and toasty characters with age.
