When bottle aged, the best cool climate Rieslings assume an Australian wine icon status. We expect the clean acidity and fruit intensity of our 2013 to give it every chance of going the distance for many enjoyable years.
IN THE VINEYARD
The very cool growing season was the dominant influence, It generated intense limey characterstics seen in traditional Riesling’s.
IN THE WINERY
The use of a mix of three specially selected yeast strains has given a fragrant fruitiness and complexity not often seen in Rieslings. The pressed juice is settled overnight then cold fermented to preserve the fresh citrus fruit characters typical of the variety.
- SA - Barossa
- South Australia
Other than three cultured yeasts to create greater complexity, standard cool fermentation in stainless steel. Crisp and lively, it has a classic lime/lemon/apple mix of fruits supported by crisp acidity, the palate bone dry. Rating 91 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 31 Mar 2016
Winery Tasting Notes
IN THE GLASS
Light green gold.
ON THE NOSE
Highly aromatic lime, other citrus friends and a hint of apple blossom.
IN THE MOUTH
Elegant yet intense on the palate, wiht some floral notesand a little spice in the middle, but dominated by a pronounced lime aroma with good zingy acid throughout.
The wine is elegant yet its powerful fruit and leaner than normal structure will stand ageing better than more forward years. The flavour of this wine is a reflection of the growing season caputuring beautiful limey fruit flavours. As we find in many years our riesling begin their life in an introverted, shy way. This wine has now begun to speak up out of the glass, a good sign that it is destined for a long life and a chance at greatness.
