Winery Profile

Domaine Bertagna was established in Vougeot by Claude Bertagna in 1950s and was taken over by the Gunther Reh family, from Trier in the Moselle Valley of Germany, in 1982. Eva Reh-Siddle has run this domain, largely located in the Cotes de Nuits, since 1988. The Domaine has 21 hectares of vineyards, with all but 1 hectare planted to Pinot Noir. 18 different appellations are produced, including 5 Grand Crus and 7 Premier Crus. 6 appellations are in Vougeot, plus a large piece of Hautes Cotes de Nuits (red and white) to compliment the famous Grand Crus of Chambertin, Clos St Denis and Corton. From Aloxe Corton and Corton Charlemagne in the south to Gevrey Chambertin in the north, the vineyards, largely Cotes de Nuits, are situated on quite steep slopes facing eastwards catching the morning sun, and are planted on Bathonien limestone with calcareous clay soils providing excellent drainage. Domaine Bertagne use the finest grain French oak barrels, originating from the forests of Vosges, Troncais and Bertranges. “Elegance and purity of fruit, for all terroirs and each wine and vintage” – Domaine Bertagna.
