Curlewis is the premium brand. These wines are handmade using traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques. They are fermented naturally on wild yeasts, matured in French oak and generally are not fined or filtered . They are complex and well-balanced even when young, but are designed to develop in the bottle and will cellar well for many years.
- VIC - Geelong
Fractionally brighter, although no deeper colour than Bel Sel; less spicy, and with more red fruits; the tannins are of gossamer weight, and in each case care has been taken not to use too much oak. Rating 92 - Drink by 2016, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (FEB/2013).
Winery Tasting Notes
Aromatic and herbaceous bouquet of dark plums, hoi-sin and sage.
The palate is warmly textured with fine acidity and silky tannins. An edgy and complex pinot with a deep fruit mix of cherry, red & black fruits. Savoury with a nice tannin kick on the back palate .
