2014 turned out to be another exceptional vintage for the Mangan Vineyard. A warm ripening period resulted in fruit arriving at the winery in superb condition. Good rain during growing season with no rain at all during January, February and to the end of harvest in March. Low yields and extraordinary compositions: low PH, good acids and flavours just building and building as the grapes continued to ripen. The result is wines across the board which are rich in flavour and style.

A 59/39% blend 2% verdelho reflecting the vineyard plantings; wild-fermented, 91% in tank, 9% in 1yo French oak, matured for 4 months. A lively, zesty and flavour-complex wine, the small amount of barrel ferment having a disproportional impact on the texture and structure; lemon juice, lemon zesy and lemongrass all sing siren songs. The palate has a lovely creamy texture and displays intense and ripe exotic notes: guava, papaya and pineapple. Lifted by some vanilla spice and carried by a complementary line of natural acidity.
