This is the third vintage of the new label from Cullen Wines. Cullen Wines have been very successful in meeting their aim of producing a wine which, while fruit driven, is of such high quality that it will develop for several years under good cellaring conditions.

Expert Reviews

A densely coloured 38/55/27% blend matured in French oak (35% new) for an average of 6 months. It is a profound wine, still newborn, but with all the boxes ticked: a cascade of cassis/blackcurrant, plum, firm tannins (in balance) and a long finish. James Halliday, Rating 95, 27th July 2015

Medium red with purple tinges.

Ripe dark fruits, rose and violet aromas are lifted by a touch of spiciness.

Very attractive blend of rich blueberry, cherry and spice flavours. Already balanced wine that is backed by soft tannins. A juicy and pure fruit–driven wine.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Winemaking began on the Cullen property in Margaret River less than 40 years ago. Studies in South Western Australia conducted in the early 1960Â?s showed that Margaret River had some special qualities. The climate was particularly suited to growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. On the advice of eminent agronomist Dr John Gladstones, Kevin and Diana Cullen planted a trial acre of vines at Willyabrup in 1966. The encouraging results of this led to the planting of 18acres of vines on the sheep and cattle farm in 1971, including their first Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc were planted between 1976 and 1978. Cullen Wines has since evolved into an estate specialising in single vineyard, premium quality wines focussed on wine integrity, rather than rapid expansion.
