Lyndoch, in the Southern Valley, is renowned for its brown, gravelly volcanic soils at around 200 metres’ elevation, giving wines rich in dark berry fruits, chocolate and spice. The palate is textured and layered, with the berry fruit aromas coming to the fore, and it has a long finish, complemented by defining oak tannins.

Sourced from the 20-year-old Semmler Vineyard, the fermentation treatment, and likewise the barrel maturation, following the standard practices for the Terroirs of the Barossa range, and, once again, 500 dozen made. Blackberry and dark plum fruit has nuances of licorice and sweet earth woven through it, the intense palate medium-bodied, and with great drive. James Halliday, Rating 95, 25th July 2014
