Expert Reviews

The 2008 Sluicings Vineyard Pinot Noir is sweet and ripe on the nose, extrovert, vivacious with plum, apricot and maraschino cherries. Good definition and sense of gestating opulence. The palate is ripe with caressing tannins, good acidity, lush and pure towards the raspberry, blueberry and cassis-flavored finish. Good length, a lovely Pinot reminiscent of Bonnes-Mares.”Rating 90-92 - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate 2009

A subtle nose displaying red plum, cherry, dried fruit and a hint of floral characters. It's immediately appealing on the palate with a juicy mouthfeel, well balanced acidity and fine tannins. The wine is vibrant, appealing and very tasty.Rating 89 Points, 4½ Stars - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (OCT/2009)

From a slightly later-ripening site than its Calvert stablemate, this charmingly floral and supple red has ripe cherry/plum flavours, slightly spicy and savoury, good complexity and excellent depth.4 Stars - Michael Cooper, Winestate Magazine (MAR/2010)

Light in colour but not lacking in power. Elegant, charming Pinot Noir with bright cherry, floral, crushed strawberry and mixed spice flavours. Silken textured with a lingering finish. Deliciously accessible wine with good cellaring potential.Rating 92 Points, 4 Stars- Bob Campbell MW, Gourmet Traveller Wine (MAR/2010)

It is a philosophy like no other. To select and source the very best vineyards in the country, plant them with only the vines that are perfectly suited for that terroir. Bottle them all as single estate wines. This simple philosophy, to make wines that speak more of where they come from than any other, is what drives their entire systems of farming and winemaking. Craggy Range has the opportunity to craft a wine business exactly the way it wants to, making the most of 150 years of pioneering winemaking in New Zealand
