Ripe juicy, fruit aromas of raspberry and cherry combine beautifully with pleasant blackberry flavours with a hint of Shiraz spiciness and Cabernet elegance that builds to a mildly sweet finish on the palate.

"Back in 1990, winemaking larrikin Geoff Merrill launched Cockatoo Ridge as an everyday, easy-drinking wine. Two decades later the brand has been revitalised by its current owner Peter Toohey, while winemaker Rodney Hooper has ensured that Merrill’s everyday drinkability test is preserved. It has sweet perfumes of raspberry pastille and wild mushroom, and a soft, round palate of dark plum and black cherry. The touch of sweetness nicely balances the tannin grip."

"Cockatoo Black is Cockatoo Ridges South Australian sparkling burgundy. Those with an eye on the budget who like a peculiarly Australian type of sparkling shiraz will enjoy this. It has sweet blackberry mulberry, mint and liquorice characters, a smooth and quite sweet palate and soft tannins underneath."
