This wine was made with rich fruit handpicked from the Crabtree Estate. The 50 year old, low cropping vines on the Picnic Hill block is situated on a rocky sandstone ridge above the homestead. These magnificent vines are always carefully hand pruned.
The handpicked fruit has been open fermented and basket pressed using traditional methods, then matured in a blend of new, one and two year old French oak barriques for 14 months.

Full crimson-purple; sourced from Picnic Hill Vineyards block; hand-picked, open-fermented and matured in new and used French oak for 14 months; the bouquet throws the emphasis on to an array of black fruits, French oak also in the mix; the medium- to full-bodied palate continues the theme with exceptional balance and structure, the finish long and complete; a long life ahead. Rating 95 - Drink by 2030 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2012)

While accessible as a young wine in the first year of release, this finely balanced Shiraz will develop gracefully for 6+ years.
Decant before serving. Try it with slow cooked shanks, whipped potato and peas.
