Expert Reviews

Rating 90 - Guide Hachette des vins

The colour is very light straw and it has quite a complex, mellow bouquet showing some balsamic (oak-fermented?) character and some pleasing maturity; the palate is high acid and crisply fresh, energising and alive, with an obvious dab of liqueur in the mid-palate and then a nice, relatively clean finish. An unusual, but character-filled wine. Rating 88 - Huon Hooke, (13/JUNE/2015)

Winery Tasting Notes

A wine with a light yellow hue, thin and vivid bubbles.

The nose is powerful and smart with flower notes and fruity hints.

The palate is smooth and well-balanced, very pure.

Food Matching

Ideal champagne for a gastronomical meal.

Grays Tasting Panel Review

The Glen McGrath of Champagne, great line and length.

The nose is classic Champagne with honey, brioche, granny smith apple with hints of pink grapefruit.

On the palate it is austere and very dry, more brioche, more granny smiths, more pink grapefruit with the honey showing up around the edges. The mousse is delicate, but has a great line of acidity running right through it and the length goes on and on.

Glen gets in and does his job very well.

Brand Profile Image

Champagne Monthuys is owned by family Baron.

Since the 17th. Century, Family Baron cultivate vineyards as grape grower, in Champagne vineyard district. The entire harvest was then sold to the negociants from Epernay and Reims.

In 1966 Mr. Gabriel Baron decided to vinify by himself and produce its own bottles of champagne.

The first bottles were produced and marketed directly to private customers and to local restaurants. The company kept on developing year after year.

Today, family Baron owns 38 hectares of vineyards and is settled in the village of Charly-Sur- Marne, on the Westside of the Marne valley. The best grapes and champagne are dedicated to make Champagne Monthuys, which starts being more and more famous on export markets.
