Each component used in the blending of the Dark Side of the Moon creates a Shiraz that exemplifies certain characteristics of the Clare Valley. From Leasingham to just north of the Clare Valley township, we had access to parcels that defined the sub-regions of Clare and work harmoniously to create a full, rich and balanced Shiraz. Combined with careful oak selection with 20% New French Oak and 80% older French and American barrels, this Shiraz will continue to give for the next 8-10 years.

Winery Tasting Notes

Bright, deep red/purple

An enticing and fragrant wine that greets you with Violets, squashed blackcurrants with an alluring hint of Olive and licorice that intensifies with every swirl.

Elegance, subtle integration and balance of fruit with oak are all attributes of this wine. With juicy dark fruit flavours of blood plums and blackcurrants, persistent mouth-coating tannins and balanced oak integration that lifts rather than overpowers, this vintage typifies Clare Valley and all it has to offer. This is a wine that will be hard to put down.

Food Match

Food matching with this wine is simple, bold flavoured foods. Try with an aged Scotch fillet steak topped with garlic butter on a bed of ratatouille. Simply matched with some creamy cheese and crackers will work well too.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Claymore Wines, situated in the beautiful Clare Valley in South Australia, began in 1997 with small volumes of Grenache and Riesling, and has now grown to almost 15,000 cases per year across a highly awarded range of wines.

We draw fruit from our five premium estate owned vineyards at Penwortham (the backbone of our red wine production) and Watervale (home to our Joshua Tree vineyard). These sites have been specifically chosen for their suitability for our staple varieties – Shiraz, Riesling, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our labelling is inspired by some of the great music of modern time - from rock, punk and folk. Our wines are about bringing together great passions to create the ultimate experience. We pride ourselves on meticulous winemaking using only the best fruit, but when it comes to enjoying a glass we don't take ourselves too seriously! So turn up the volume on a soundtrack of your choice, crack a bottle with friends, and relax.
