Cape Barren wines are produced from vineyards particularly hand selected for their exceptional quality and consistency. The reds are produced from the world renowned McLaren Vale region, from vines older than 45 years. These seriously old vines produce wines of supreme concentration and complexity not seen in younger vines. It is this history on which the future lies.
Towards the end of each summer, Cape Barren is greeted in the vineyards by the arrival of magnificent Cape Barren Geese. These are amongst the rarest of the world’s geese, and are native to Australia. The birds are named after Cape Barren Island where the birds were first sighted centuries ago.

Winery Tasting Notes
Enticing deep, dark purple hues.
Powerful intensity of forest berries, such as raspberries and blackberries, mix well with the ripe lift of Satsuma plums and chocolate, and five-spice savouriness, all enhanced by well integrated oak freshness.
Richly textured, yet showing finesse and excellent balance of juicy layers of blackberry, spice, plum and bitter chocolate. This persists through to a very long lasting velvety smooth finish capped by structured, soft tannins.
