Attractive deep, dark purple with red hues.

Aroma

Intense flavours of dark forest berries, such as raspberries and blackberries, backed by the ripe lift of Satsuma plums and chocolate, complexed by hints of five-spice and French oak toastiness.

Palate

Richly textured wine which is truly mouth-filling with juicy layers of dark berries, spice, plum and chocolate. This persists with a very long lasting velvety smooth finish capped by structured, soft tannins.

The unique McLaren Vale maritime climate offers long warm summers cooled by afternoon ocean breezes, thus providing the ideal ripening conditions for grapes destined for full-bodied red wine.

All fruit for Cape Barren Old Vine Shiraz is sourced from a single seventy year old vineyard at Blewitt Springs that has previously been used to produce some of South Australia's icon wines.
