This classification is the foundation of the style; displaying the fresh raisin aromas, rich fruit, clean spirit and great length of flavour on the palate, which are the mark of all the Muscats of Rutherglen. The Muscats of Rutherglen are considered the "World's Richest Wines" and bear a mark of authenticity – an oval logotype with a stylised "R" – which is only applied to the wines drawn from the great Muscat vineyards of the region.

Expert Reviews

Caramel and Turkish delight aromas: raisiny muscat flavours on the palate. Not too sweet but beautifully balanced, this is a superb sipper with brandied figs topped with mascarpone.Huon Hooke, The Age (DEC/2006)

A complex and very luscious wine, which has some spicy elements not unlike tokay adding interest. Rating 90 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion

‘A wonderful Rutherglen Sticky style, richly flavoured with raisin and nut notes. A bit like a wonderful liquid fruit cake and would be a terrific match with a slice. When the world discovers these, the prices will sky rocket. Get in now!’Mike Frost The Courier Mail (AUG/2008)

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Campbells winery and vineyards are situated in the historic Rutherglen Wine Region of North East Victoria.

Brothers Malcolm and Colin are the fourth generation to carry on the Campbell tradition started by their great grandfather John Campbell in Rutherglen in 1870. Together with their wives Jenny and Prue, they have forged a strong reputation for Campbells as a benchmark Rutherglen wine producer.

The brothers are an ideal team with Malcolm as viticulturist and Colin as winemaker. They have 160 acres of vineyard all within the historic Rutherglen Wine Region and are a true estate grown and bottled operation.

This means we have the ability to nurture our wines from vine to bottle. As Colin says, “Our wines are like our children, we bring them into this world and take great pride and joy in holding their hands and watching them grow”.

Malcolm's approach in the vineyard is quite simple, “Quality even at the expense of quantity is our aim. We assist nature, we don't seek to dominate her.”

Colin believes his role as winemaker is to maximize and protect the natural fruit flavours. His skill is in making wines with structure and balance that can confidently be aged; a hallmark of Campbells Wines.

Today the fifth generation of Campbells is adding their enthusiasm and skills. How excited would their great great grandfather John Campbell be to see this dedication to the Campbell name!
