This 2010 Brokenwood Chardonnay is made from 60% Beechworth, 31% McLaren Vale and 9% Cowra fruit. The vintage was relatively trouble free especially at Beechworth where drought and fires were a problem in previous years. January 2010 was warm but 125mm of rain in early February was perfect. McLaren Vale and Cowra had trouble free ripening.

Winery Tasting Notes
Region: Beechworth - VIC, McLaren Vale - SA, Cowra - NSW
Great colour of pale yellow and green tints.
The aromas are in the tropical spectrum with background ‘meal’ characters from the yeast lees stirring.
White peach flavours initially and soft cashew, vanillin oak feature on the palate. There is a medium alcohol and glycerol weight and a long finish. A great example of Brokenwood’s complex, barrel fermented Chardonnay that will gain weight to give a full flavoured palate. The use of screw cap will ensure consistent aging.
Rich seafood, pasta and light meat dishes.
