This Special Release Malbec is the result of a special parcel of Malbec fruit. This parcel has been kept separate, nurtured, and tasted many times! We chose to mature this wine for 18 months in barrel, including Hungarian oak which adds a complimentary refined spice note. These barrels we have bottled for your enjoyment. This wine shows an intense perfumed aroma of violets and spice with a bramble lift. The cooler vintage conditions of 2011 have led to a very vibrant, pretty and berry driven wine of medium weight with a fine tannin finish.

Winery Tasting Notes

This Malbec wine was matured for 18 months in a mixture of new and old Hungarian oak barrels with a proportion aged on yeast lees and stirred to give the wine added structure and mid palate fullness. This is balanced by delicious spicy notes.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Langhorne Creek is unique in that it sits on the rich soil of the Bremer River flood plain. Fresh cool evening breezes from Lake Alexandrina provide a micro climate of mild to warm summer days and cool evenings, perfect for the long ripening of the grapes producing intense and sought after cool climate flavours.

Winemaker Rebecca Willson and Marketing Manager, Lucy Willson have focussed the family’s wine range on high quality and individualistic wines. They have given Bremerton a strong foothold in the highly competitive wine market with Rebecca’s first label at age 25 – the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon winning a trophy and rated third best Cabernet in Australia by Winestate magazine.

Since then the Willson Sisters have taken Bremerton to become one of the best known brands from South Australia’s Langhorne Creek wine region.
