Expert Reviews

An extended fermentation and maceration was followed by 20 months in new French barriques before a selection of the best barrels were blended for this wine. It is a complex blend of the hallmark fruit-softness of Langhorne Creek and the tannins of cabernet (augmented to a degree by oak tannins). There are elements of pull me, push you, but the end result is very good. Rating 94 - Drink by 2024 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2013)

Winery Tasting Notes

Aroma

Palate

The wine is supported by a fine defining tannin structure and shows spice and complexity from the careful use of new French oak.

Individual Cabernet Sauvignon parcels were fermented in open vats then matured in new French oak barrels for 24 months. Only the best barrels were then selected to make up the Walter's Reserve Cabernet blend. Two years additional bottle maturation allows further flavour development and tannin integration before the wines' release.

Cellaring

Will evolve and open up with cellaring 6-10+

Matches well with red meat, game dishes or even a delicious cheese plate!

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Langhorne Creek is unique in that it sits on the rich soil of the Bremer River flood plain. Fresh cool evening breezes from Lake Alexandrina provide a micro climate of mild to warm summer days and cool evenings, perfect for the long ripening of the grapes producing intense and sought after cool climate flavours.

Winemaker Rebecca Willson and Marketing Manager, Lucy Willson have focussed the family’s wine range on high quality and individualistic wines. They have given Bremerton a strong foothold in the highly competitive wine market with Rebecca’s first label at age 25 – the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon winning a trophy and rated third best Cabernet in Australia by Winestate magazine.

Since then the Willson Sisters have taken Bremerton to become one of the best known brands from South Australia’s Langhorne Creek wine region.
