Shiraz produces Australia’s most notable dry red wines. The variety is very successful on sites that allow the vine to attain flavour ripeness whilst retaining balanced levels of sugar, tannin and acid. Blue Pyrenees Estate Vineyard is one such site. The 2012 Blue Pyrenees Shiraz is produced from parcels of fruit grown on low-yielding exposed vines creating a wine of intense flavours, naturally soft tannin and the classic rich Shiraz structure. The 2011 / 2012 growing season is regarded by many as perfect growing conditions with ideal winter rains, cool and mild spring and summer, finished by a warm Autumn, allowing Shiraz grapes to show their best. Maturation for 18 months in a combination of new to four year old French and American oak barriques has added softness, texture and complexity to a wine of pristine varietal flavours.

Winery Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red.
Pepper notes indicate cool climate Shiraz plus tell-tale Pyrenees spices, blueberry fruit and a background of cedar and vanilla oak.
The regional blueberry fruit gives way to the classic Pyrenees Shiraz herbs and spice notes, then a mid-palate of chocolate, vanilla, and hint of mint. The ripe grape tannin structure of this wine supports the lingering fruit flavours, allowing them to shine all the way to the long dry finish.
Can be enjoyed now or cellared with confidence for 10 years.
