Winery Tasting Notes

This Cab Sauv has been harvested from a small area of the Blickling Estate Vineyard known as the Shed Block where the harsh growing conditions naturally limit the grape yield and berry size to produce a rich, ruby red coloured wine with an amazing flavour. Its ripe Cabernet flavours of blackcurrant and blackberry with tomato bush, eucalyptus and cedary oak are followed by a well structured and elegant palate of ripe fruit flavours with firm yet ripe tannins providing a long persistant finish. This wine will mature well for up to 8 years

Winery Profile

Rolf Blickling has established his vineyard (planted to riesling, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz) at an elevation of 950m. Frosts in spring and April underline how cool the climate is, necessitating careful site selection. The cellar door also operates a lavender and eucalyptus oil distillery.
