Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Garnet red with ruby highlights.

Aroma

Complex and well-balanced bouquet; red fruits (raspberry, cherry), liquorice blend seamlessly with the smoky, balsamic (cedar), spicy (hint of pepper, clove) notes coming from the oak.

Palate

Supple and rich on the palate, with a meaty texture and lively fruit that make this an easy Reserva to drink, and very food-friendly too. Its ripeness and long finish will please many wine-lovers. It will gain complexity in the cellar.

Food Matching

Lealtanza Reserva will enhance and complement a wide range of meaty soups, stews and roasts, as well as cured cheeses and delicatessen. Suggestion: braised beef cheeks in red wine sauce.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Bodegas Altanza is a contemporary Spanish winery with a passion for Rioja’s native grape variety – Tempranillo. Located in Fuenmayor, in the heart of Rioja Alta, Bodegas Altanza controls over 120 hectares of gnarly, dry grown bush vines. Yields are low with these little gems producing an average of less than 1.5kg per vine, well below the Appelation limit in Rioja.

A state of the art winery completes the winemaking process. Lead by third generation Riojan winemaker Oscar Martinez, all Bodegas Altanza wines are made in a modern style: they are 100 per cent Tempranillo, fermented using natural yeasts and aged in entirely French oak.
