DOC Rioja Reserva
Lealtanza is the name we chose for our wines because of its meaning in ancient Spanish, that is loyalty. Bodegas Altanza is loyal to Rioja tradition when selecting only Tempranillo variety, which is authoctonous from Rioja., for all its wines. For these wines we select our best Tempranillo grapes, from medium to old vineyards in order to produce the best wines suitable for long ageing in our winery.
High oaked wine. Aged 18 months in French oak casks of 1 or 2 years old and 3 extra months in Allier French oak vats.
- IMPORTED - Spain
The 2005 Lealtanza Reserva spent 18 months in French oak and 18 months in bottle prior to release. Purple in color (typical of the 2005 vintage), brooding, and dense, it gives up a nose of pain grille, pencil lead, Asian spices, lavender, and assorted black fruits. Large-scaled and powerful on the palate, it boasts outstanding depth, volume, and length. It will amply reward 5-6 years of cellaring and deliver prime drinking from 2016 to 2025. Rating 91+ Drink 2016 - 2025 - Jay Miller, Wine Advocate (JUN/2011)
Winery Tasting Notes
Clean and glossy. Intense red garnet.
Complex wine, well equilibrated and full of elegant aromas like soothing, black fruits coming from an extraordinary vintage of Tempranillo well blended with aromas like spices, coffee and cacao from our quality French oak.
Silky and fleshy when tasting it. A classic Rioja presented in an innovative way as it has a fruity, intense and well balanced palate. It will gain in complexity with time. Well balanced.
It demands more elaborated meals, and stronger meats. It pairs with anything that has dried fruits, spices like vanilla, cinnamon, cloves or nutmeg. We are talking about more elaborated and complex meals. Anyway, it is perfect with any cheese or salmon. Serving temperature 16 Cº
