Expert Reviews

Solid hit of sweet, jammy blackberry and bitumen flavour with salted licorice lingering through the aftertaste. Rough and ready but beefy, particularly given the price. Rating 87 - Drink by 2017, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (FEB/2015).

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Intense red colour with vibrant purple hues.

Aroma

The wine exhibits aromas of dark stone fruits, vanilla pod, and mixed berries together with a hint of cedar, Christmas pudding and old leather bound books.

Palate

The palate is rich and full bodied, with the stone fruit evident in the front palate, the cedar and leather characteristics in the mid palate with a dark chocolate finish. This wine has a firm fruit backbone and supporting, long tannins. This is a full bodied wine with good length and is an excellent example of Barossa Shiraz from the 2012 vintage.

Food Matching

A perfect match with sweet and sour pork spare ribs.

Cellaring Potential

Enjoy to 2024.
