Winery Tasting Notes
Mid to deep red with hues of cherry and mahogany
Ripe blackberry and dark cherry fruit are at the fore but there is a background of tar and roses with eucalyptus and dusty spice. It has a combination of sweet fragrance and earthy intensity.
The sweet berry fruit combines with the smoky earthy characters to give a palate full of mocha, resin, licorice and chocolate. The tannins are dry with a supple texture and there is an element of chariness behind the roast coffee beans and spicy oak. The finish is stimulating and dry leaving your palate ready for the next taste experience. It continues to evolve the longer it’s allowed to breath.
This is a Shiraz that can handle some more exotic flavours, try it with Mongolian lamb or dry roasted beef or Char Kway Teow (with spicy Malaysian sausage).
This wine is enjoyable now and will continue to evolve over the next 5 plus years if cellared under the right storage conditions
Pan Terra Reserve wines are hand selected and represent outstanding expressions of variety, vintage and region. This 2008 McLaren Vale Shiraz is a blend of 3 individual wines (3 separate vineyards and 3 separate winemakers). The final blend was assembled by Chris Hill and given additional 6 months maturation before bottling in November 2010. It’s now ready to be enjoyed with your favourite food or friends.
