Verdelho is a Portuguese white grape that came to WA in our early days of viticulture. It came into prominence when the doyen of Swan Valley winemakers Jack Mann used the variety to make both fresh, lively table wines and luscious fortified styles which both aged beautifully. The development of the Margaret River region saw Verdelho planted in a cooler environment. The mild, sunny season accentuated the fruit flavours and the natural crisp acidity of the variety. Ashbrook Estate recognized these characters with their first Verdelho made over 30 years ago. The wine is unwooded.

Winery Tasting Notes
The Ashbrook Estate 2011 Verdelho has a perfumed, almost pungent, spicy fruit salad aroma.
The palate flavour mirrors the aroma, the high natural acidity of the variety complements the powerful flavour and gives the wine a refreshing finish. The excellent depth and fullness of flavour ensures the wine will age for at least a decade, when it will display an attractive honey bouquet and flavour.
Served chilled it is an excellent accompaniment to fresh seafood and spicy dishes. The wine is bottled
with a screw cap to ensure the wine remains fresh for many years.
