Ashbrook Estate is one of the longest established wineries in the Margaret River region located in the heart of Wilyabrup. Family owned and operated since 1975, all wines are crafted from handpicked estate grown fruit. All processing, winemaking, bottling and packaging are closely controlled using the Estate’s own private facilities.

James Halliday says: “This estate is one of the quietest and highest achievers in Australia, maintaining excellent viticulture and fastidious winemaking.”

Expert Reviews

Fragrant on the nose but there's more than a suggestion of mouth-perfume here too. It's a good look, so to speak. It helps promote a sense of succulence, in a context of nettle, tropical fruit and citrus flavour. Cutting acidity and length but a certain richness is already on show. Winery Tasting Notes

A classic example of what this variety can achieve in a warm maritime climate. Made in an unwooded style to retain and enhance varietal fruit freshness.

Staggered harvesting of fruit from a combination of estate sites and trellising systems allows expression of a spectrum of aromas and flavours from sweet grassiness to punchy ripe citrus in the finished wine.

This complexity also provides exceptional structure and palate weight with considerable ageing potential.

Cellaring for five or more years is rewarded with rich complex nut, straw and toast characters in harmony with ripe lemon and sweet grassy nuances while still retaining a pleasantly surprising level of freshness, vibrancy and length.

Brand Profile Image

“This estate is one of the quietest and highest achievers in Australia, maintaining excellent viticulture and fastidious winemaking. It is hard to choose between the complex, herby, tropical Semillon, or subtly oaked, long Chardonnay, the crisp Sauvignon Blanc or briar- and cassis Cabernet.” James Halliday.

In 1975, after considerable evaluation and thorough searching for land suitable for premium wine production, the Devitt family purchased and named Ashbrook Estate in Wilyabrup.

It is one of the ten original vineyard wineries in Margaret River and to this day is still owned and operated by the Devitts. With abundant technical expertise, a rare and highly sought after location, an ideal climate and a well equipped winery, Ashbrook has an enviable record for consistently producing high quality wines.

At Ashbrook the vines are mainly grown on specialised Lyre trellis to maximise flavour development. All fruit is hand picked. Ashbrook is one of the few wine producers where all fruit processed is estate grown and all wine is made and bottled on site using their own equipment. This gives greater focus and control over the total winemaking process.
